The airlift is a highly effective solution against blue-green algae and fish mortality caused by water stratification in deep, stagnant lakes. This separation of water layers, particularly in summer, leads to oxygen depletion at the bottom and an excess of phosphates at the surface. By pumping the lower water layers upwards, the oxygen levels and phosphate concentrations are controlled, maintaining water quality suitable for both people and fish.
How the airlift works
The airlift consists of a polyester float and riser pipe equipped with an electric compressor. The device mixes oxygen-poor and oxygen-rich water with minimal energy, destratifying the water body. This increases oxygen levels, binding phosphates to the bottom and preventing blue-green algae from thriving.
