Shortly afterwards he expressed his concern about fish mortality in pumping stations to Gerard Manshanden, professional fisherman at Lake IJsselmeer. Gerard told Marcel that he happened to just have had an idea for a fishpassage to safely guide fish around the potentially lethal pumps of pumping stations! They decided to work out the idea together. The cooperation has resulted in the construction of the first “fishway for pumping stations” in the Meerweg pumping station, near Groningen in the conservancy area of the Hunze en Aa’s Waterboard, in 2005.

The cooperation between G.A.M. Manshanden Productie B.V. and Witteveen+Bos Consulting Engineers was formalised in a joint-venture. In October 2006 the company FishFlow Innovations B.V., of which both G.A.M. Manshanden Productie B.V. and Witteveen+Bos Consulting Engineers are shareholders, was launched. After a fruitful cooperation of 6 years, FishFlow Innovations is now fully owned by G.A.M. Manshanden Productie B.V. as of January 1st 2012.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”container” padding_top=”” padding_bottom=”” css=”.vc_custom_1451761032806{padding-top: 50px !important;}”][vc_column width=”1/2″ css=”.vc_custom_1449147431196{margin-bottom: 35px !important;}”][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_Thu Aug 24 2017 11:48:27 GMT+0200 (West-Europa (zomertijd)){padding-right: 10px !important;}”]

FishFlow Innovations, a company in motion

By today FishFlow Innovations has grown to a worldwide leading company in innovative fish friendly products for passage and deterrence of fish.
